The telecom retail industry today is in a challenging phase, characterized by economic uncertainty, evolving technologies, heightened competition, and market consolidation, along with the continued and relentless demands of customer expectations, attraction, and loyalty. A recent iQmetrix survey, 2023 Trends in Telecom Retail, revealed that the average device upgrade cycle has extended to three years, marking a doubling over recent years and causing an overall decline in smartphone and tablet sales. This drop in retail sales could be why only 55.3% of survey respondents expect revenue to grow in the next three years, which is a significant slide in optimism compared with the 2021 survey.
